Our Story

Hi, I’m John Floyd, founder of J Floyd Engineering Ltd.

We’re a Cork-based structural engineering practice specialising in bespoke residential projects. Small by design, we offer a hands-on, responsive service built around collaboration, clarity, and quality.

I’m a Chartered Engineer (CEng MIEI) with over 20 years’ experience. After graduating from M.T.U. in 2006, I spent 12 years in London delivering everything from complex one-off retrofits to large, multi-million-pound residential and mixed-use developments. In 2019, I returned home to Cork to bring that experience back to local projects.
